PENN YAN, NY — August 6 — The Penn Yan Fire Department conducted a combined training session on Thursday at Knapp and Schlappi, uniting firefighters from multiple nearby departments for a practical session centered on pre-planning and the positioning of emergency vehicles.

Firefighters from the Hammondsport Fire Department, White Springs Fire Department, Benton Fire Department, and Dresden Fire Department participated alongside the Penn Yan team.

This training allowed personnel from different departments to collaborate and gain familiarity with the layout of the commercial site.

A significant part of the training involved pre-planning, which included identifying key building characteristics, access routes, and factors that might impact firefighting operations.

The crews also practiced placing equipment and positioning ladder trucks to better understand how apparatuses can be arranged during an actual emergency.

Training at well-known local locations helps firefighters become more knowledgeable about building structures and access points prior to any incident.
