MIDDLESEX, NY — July 27 — Firefighters spent the evening practicing essential fireground skills during a roll-up drill aimed at reinforcing techniques related to hose deployment, advancing through a structure, and entry operations.
The Middlesex Hose Company, located at 5537 Water St., Middlesex, NY 14507. New York State records confirm that the Middlesex Hose Company is a registered fire department and a designated first-responder agency in Yates County.
During the training session, firefighters practiced deploying and advancing a handline, properly managing hose for efficient movement, and assessing a structure before choosing an appropriate entry point.
These basic skills are crucial for firefighting crews working together inside burning buildings.
The exercise also allowed firefighters to work on communication, positioning, and teamwork while wearing protective gear.
Repeating these tasks during training helps ensure consistency and preparedness before responding to an actual emergency.
Middlesex Hose Company is a volunteer organization based on Water Street.
