Vernon, N.J. — July 28 — The Vernon Junior Police Academy was visited by members of the Highland Lakes Fire Department to provide participating youngsters with safety and fire prevention advice. Firefighters utilized the visit as a chance to establish rapport with young people in the community while talking about fundamental fire safety.

According to the department, the encounter also gave firemen a chance to assist the academy and promote safety knowledge outside of emergency situations. There were no mutual-aid or assisting fire departments listed as taking part in the tour.
