Patrick Wirkus Graduated From National Fire Academy Program

Elizabeth, N.J. — August 7 — After completing the Executive Fire Officer Program at the U.S. Fire Administration National Fire Academy, Battalion Chief Patrick Wirkus received recognition from Elizabeth Fire Officers IAFF Local 2040. Four graduate-level courses on leadership, executive decision-making, community risk reduction, and emergency preparedness were part of the multi-year curriculum. With Wirkus' accomplishment, the Elizabeth Fire Department reached a major professional development milestone.


According to the department, he became New Jersey's 56th graduate. Additionally, Wirkus received recognition for his efforts with the Union County Fire Mutual Aid System as a deputy fire mutual-aid coordinator. Family members and other Elizabeth firefighters attended the graduation. There was no indication of mutual-aid departments taking part in the graduation. Wirkus received congratulations from Local 2040 on finishing the program.
