Linden, N.J. — August 11 — After completing their probationary periods and being promoted to fireman, FF Christian Usman, FF Nicholas Tome, and FF Nicholas Moreno were acknowledged by the Linden Fire Department. The three received Firefighter I and II credentials, Hazmat Awareness and Operations, and Incident Management Level 1 training after completing a 15-week curriculum at the Morris County Fire Academy last year. Additionally, they passed the National Registry EMT exam, finished a 220-hour EMT course, and obtained their EMT certification.

Each firefighter fulfilled the department's probationary criteria after being assigned to their shifts. Their training expanded their responsibilities to include emergency medical care, incident management, fire suppression, and hazardous materials. The promotions did not include any mutual-aid departments. All three firefighters received congratulations from the department for finishing their training and probation.
