This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Alpha, N.J. — July 31 — Rescue Products International's "Air Is Life" firefighter survival course was finished by members of Alpha Volunteer Fire Company, Station 82. Mayday crises and practical skills that firefighters would require in a SCBA-related emergency were the main topics of the training. Members practiced changing emergency SCBA bottles, sharing air via the UEBSS, and deploying a RIT pack with both high- and low-pressure connections. Additionally, the practical training reaffirmed survival techniques that firemen might not employ in every incident.

The company's station at 1109 Lee Ave. in Alpha served as the training location. There were no mutual-aid departments listed as taking part in the course. Firefighters had more experience using equipment, handling emergency situations, and solving firefighter survival difficulties during the session.
