In celebration of the firemen who give their time to help their communities, the Bernardston Fire Department observed National Volunteer firemen Recognition Day.

Over 85% of firefighters in the US are volunteers or call firefighters, according to the department. Although Bernardston is a paid on-call department, its workers frequently donate their time to departmental and community events.

The department expressed gratitude to its firefighters and their families for their ongoing dedication to the community, sacrifices, and hard work.
