Dayville, CT. — July 26 — After several years of operation, the Dayville Fire Company replaced Boat 163 with Marine 163, a modern 1673-X4 Rescue ONE connector boat. The boat had a 500-gallon-per-minute fire pump, a jet-powered Mercury motor, and a diver and victim rescue platform. The pump had a 2 1/2-inch discharge, a 1 1/8-inch smooth-bore deck gun, and a 4-inch suction intake with floating strainer.
The company's equipment for firefighting and water rescue activities was increased by the new boat. Marine 163 gave firemen a specific platform for water-based firefighting tasks, victim recovery, and diver operations.
