Over the course of three hours on August 7, Monroe's volunteer firefighters responded to numerous storm-related incidents, including a house fire in the Stepney district, electrical problems and lightning strikes at various homes, and arcing power lines.

Firefighters swiftly put out the house fire and took a dog out of the house. There were no injuries to the dog.

The different situations were handled by about 35 volunteer firefighters from the Stevenson, Stepney, and Monroe fire departments. At the time of the department's announcement, no injuries had been recorded.
