On August 14, Bourne Fire/Rescue & Emergency Services said that their 10-digit emergency phone line had been momentarily unavailable. Later on, the phone line was reinstated.
Residents were advised by the department that 911 service was unaffected and should always be used in an emergency. The emergency communications system is used to respond to and send out 911 calls.
Additionally, residents were advised not to report emergencies via the department's commercial line.
