Colrain, MA. — July 18 — Three rope techs rehearsed low- and high-angle rescue techniques at Catamount State Forest as part of the Colrain Firefighters' Association's rope rescue training. Twin-tension systems, CMC clutches, high-point anchors, and basket rigging for raising and lowering were all addressed in the training. Practical experience with equipment setup, rigging, and controlled movement of a rescue basket was given during the course.

In situations involving steep terrain, elevated regions, and challenging access, rope rescue techniques are employed. Technicians can review protocols, inspect equipment, and enhance coordination prior to emergency calls with regular training. The necessity of appropriate system configuration and communication during technical rescue operations was also emphasized during the event.
