On August 16, volunteer firefighters in Monroe spent the morning testing dry hydrants across the district and ensuring that subterranean water tanks were full and functioning as intended.
Dry hydrants, which draw water from adjacent water sources or subterranean tanks, are utilized in places without conventional municipal hydrants.
Firefighters were called to a Stevenson district home due to a reported smoke odor while the testing was underway.
