Bremen, ME — July 21 — The Bremen Volunteer Fire Department held training in search and rescue and SCBA operations. In order to protect the room from the rest of the home, search for people, then climb thru a window, firefighters practiced a mock bedroom entry. Firefighters practiced removing a fictitious victim from the room after finding one.

Entry, search, communication, and rescue techniques utilized in interior operations were strengthened by the training. The department reported 147 calls in the previous year, and Bremen firefighters receive annual training to maintain their reaction skills. As part of its operational readiness, the department has also continued to replace and repair SCBA equipment.
