Applications for the eighth annual Citizens Fire Academy are now being accepted, according to the Fair Lawn and Glen Rock fire departments.

Classes for the six-week evening program start on Tuesday, October 6th, and run from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Residents of Fair Lawn and Glen Rock who are at least 18 years old are eligible for the program. Attendance at every session is required.

Participants have the chance to undergo firefighter training in a secure environment throughout the practical session. Using vehicle extrication equipment, entering a smoke-filled environment, handling hose lines, and donning firefighting gear are among the activities. It should be possible for participants to engage in moderate physical activity.
