Mount Tabor Crews Responded as RIC for Chatham Fire

Morris Plains, N.J. — September 9 — Members of the Mount Tabor Volunteer Fire Department answered a call from the Chatham Borough Volunteer Fire Department Association early Wednesday morning as part of a Rapid Intervention Crew (RIC) deployment during a fire at a commercial building.
The call came in around 4:46 a.m., and Deputy 1, Rescue 14, and Utility 16 were sent to the scene to provide standby support for the firefighters already working at the fire.
Mount Tabor firefighters stayed on site to assist with fire suppression efforts and help prevent the blaze from spreading to nearby structures. As part of the RIC team, they were ready to assist any interior crews if an emergency arose during the operation.
The crew remained at the scene until about 6:15 a.m., when command decided to release them from the assignment.
Chatham Borough has a volunteer fire service that collaborates with neighboring departments during major incidents.
The borough’s emergency services include fire protection and mutual aid agreements with surrounding communities.
This response shows how regional fire departments work together to support each other during structure fires. After completing their RIC duty, Mount Tabor firefighters returned to their home district.
