Bogota, N.J. — July 15 — The anniversary of the line-of-duty death of former Ridgefield Park Fire Department Chief Steve Dembski was commemorated by the Bogota Fire Department. After responding to a multi-alarm house fire in Bogota, Dembski passed away on July 15, 2007. Dembski worked alongside other firemen at the scene during the early morning hours of the tragedy.

He experienced a medical issue a few hours after coming home. Dembski passed away in spite of efforts to save his life. He had a lengthy tenure with the department and had been Ridgefield Park's fire chief. Firefighters and other emergency personnel continued to honor his service.
