This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Hampton, N.H. — July 26 — Joe Polcari, a paramedic who successfully completed Rapid Sequence Intubation (RSI) training and became the department's newest RSI-certified paramedic, received congratulations from Hampton Fire/Rescue.

For patients who are unable to protect their airways or breathe enough, RSI is a sophisticated airway management technique utilized in the prehospital context. The certification prepares paramedics to deliver advanced airway treatment during life-threatening medical situations, although it does require extra training.
