This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

West Greenwich, R.I. — July 23 — In an article published in The Rhode Islander, Lake Mishnock Fire/Rescue reflected on its volunteer past. The volunteers at Lake Mishnock and their contribution to local people' fire safety were emphasized in the article. The volunteers stood in for the West Greenwich community-based fire department paradigm, which was still significant.

Lake Mishnock Fire/Rescue has been offering the community fire and emergency medical services for many years. The department continued to be a part of the town's volunteer emergency response system and ran out of its station on Mishnock Road. The department's early service and volunteer heritage was documented in the 1952 feature.
