Oak Bluffs, MA. — July 16 — Town Beach lifeguards and the Oak Bluffs Fire-EMS Department, located at 6 Firehouse Lane, participated in a combined drowning response training exercise at Lifeguard Stand No. Two. Before emergency medical services came, lifeguards performed a mock rescue, turned on the emergency response system, started CPR, and utilized an automated external defibrillator.

EMS personnel were moved across the beach by a utility terrain vehicle, enabling prompt patient care. The practice, which improved coordination, teamwork, and communication, was backed by EMS staff, Fire Chief Foster, and senior captain Jimmy Maseda. Frequent collaborative training enhances community preparedness for beach rescues and water emergencies.
