In its July activity report, the Chester Fire Department reported 352 service requests thus far this year and 57 emergency responses during the month.
Twelve public service calls, twelve non-emergency replies, five hazardous occurrences, one fire, and no rescue calls came after the 27 medical emergency calls. Throughout the month, Chester workers also helped nearby communities with building fires, alarm activations, and station coverage.
Along with emergency responses, firefighters installed communication headsets on Engine 2 and Ladder 1 to enhance crew coordination while responding to calls, finished installing the department's new battery-powered extrication tools, and installed a new LifePak 35 cardiac monitor on Engine 2.
