Sandown Crews Responded to Second-Alarm Fire

Sandown, NH — September 16 — Sandown Fire Rescue responded on Wednesday afternoon to a reported structure fire on Waterford Drive.The incident was upgraded to a second alarm, prompting the department to call in additional resources.
The department was dispatched at approximately 2:12 p.m.
along with automatic aid.The on-duty crew responded using Ladder Three with two members, while Tank One sent one member who had come from home.Ambulance One also responded with two additional members who had come from home.Car One was staffed by the fire chief.
The fire was later upgraded to a second alarm, which led to the involvement of multiple mutual-aid departments to provide extra personnel and equipment.
Outside reports confirmed that neighboring departments assisted Sandown Fire Rescue during the operation.
Auburn Rescue 1 helped with fire suppression and overhaul activities, while the East Kingston Fire Department was among the other departments offering mutual aid.
WMUR reported that firefighters encountered heavy smoke coming from the roof and that one firefighter was recovering from minor injuries following the response.
Sandown Fire Rescue operated from its station at 314 Main Street and was staffed by volunteer firefighters and EMTs.
The response highlighted the role of automatic and mutual aid in supporting local crews during larger structure fires.
