On July 19, a 911 call about swimsuits in difficulty during the Revere Beach International Sand Sculpting Festival prompted the Revere Fire Department to rescue two people from the sea near Eliot Circle.

Deputy Chief S. Manion led the fire department, which responded in tandem with festival staff. Responders swiftly discovered the casualties using information from the Metro North Regional Emergency Communications Center, live camera feeds from the Massachusetts State Police, and drone imagery from the Revere Police Department.

Firefighters deployed the department's Zodiac rescue boat with help from the Massachusetts State Police Marine Unit, safely bringing both people ashore. The two were assessed by Cataldo Ambulance Service before being released.
