Gales Ferry, CT. — July 28 — The Gales Ferry Volunteer Fire Company, 1772 Route 12, had a training session that featured a fire suppression exercise, EMS skill refreshers, and new member orientation. In a simulated situation, firefighters had to deploy handlines from an expanded feeder line since equipment could not reach the fire location. The exercise concentrated on coordinated suppression techniques in challenging terrain, hose deployment, and fireground communication.
Frequent scenario-based training made it easier for firemen to stay proficient in alternative firefighting techniques and guaranteed that teams would always be ready to react to crises in the department's wide range of response areas in a safe and efficient manner.
