On July 24, the Guilford Fire Department honored the 58th graduating class of the Connecticut State Fire Academy Cadet Program, Introduction to the Fire Service.

Under the direction of senior advisers Jim Strong, Lt. Mike Speringo, and Deputy Chief Robert Auger, members of the cadet program from Clinton, Guilford, Haddam, Killingworth, and Westbrook trained every Tuesday night for the previous year.

During graduation, a number of cadets received special distinction. The Senior Counselor Award went to AJ Brown of the Clinton Fire Department, the Honor Cadet title went to Naomi Perrone-Grey of the Westbrook Fire Department, the Aerial Lieutenant title went to Gabriella Speringo of the Guilford Fire Department, and the Crew Leader title went to Anthony Alberino of the Clinton Fire Department.
