Hillsborough Twp. Station 37 Honored Chief Bill Shaffer’s Legacy

Hillsborough, N.J. — July 14 — At a memorial at its headquarters, Hillsborough Twp. Station 37 Fire commemorated the fifth anniversary of Assistant Chief William "Billy" Shaffer's line-of-duty death. After experiencing a medical emergency while working at a car fire, Shaffer passed away on July 14, 2021. He joined Hillsborough Fire Company No. 2 in 1983 and worked for the department for over 35 years, including positions as assistant chief and chief.


To honor his commitment to public service, firefighters, relatives, and locals came together. All firemen who had lost their lives while performing their duties were likewise honored at the occasion, as were their enduring contributions to their communities.
