On July 8, members of the Rio Grande Volunteer Fire Company and the Green Creek Fire Company participated in a cooperative water rescue training exercise at a nearby pond.
Crews were able to practice boat operations, patient removal, and rescue tactics by using fake victims in the water. In order to enhance cooperation during subsequent emergency responses, firefighters also became acquainted with each department's water rescue apparatus.
