SOMERSET, N.J. — July 14 — Firefighters Justin Hartmann and Tanner Gorky were acknowledged by the Millstone Valley Fire Department, located at 2365 Amwell Road, upon obtaining their black shields and formally finishing their probationary term. The accomplishment came after months of instruction on emergency response techniques, equipment locations, department protocols, and apparatus operations.

Each firefighter's dedication to helping the community was demonstrated by receiving a black shield, which was a significant step toward full membership. As they continued their service with the volunteer department, which offers emergency response and fire protection throughout Franklin Township Fire District No. 1 and neighboring mutual aid regions, department officers applauded both members.
