Watchung, N.J. — July 4 — The Watchung Volunteer Fire Department, located at 57 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069, celebrated Independence Day with towns all throughout the country. The festival honored the nation's tradition of civic duty and public service as well as the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.

While locals celebrated celebrations and family get-togethers, firefighters stood ready to respond to emergency calls. The agency encouraged everyone to contact 911 in an emergency, adhere to local fireworks rules, and follow fire safety procedures. Additionally, the celebration honored the commitment of volunteer firemen and emergency medical services personnel who continued to serve their communities over the Fourth of July vacation.
