As part of the nation's commemoration of America 250 Independence Day on July 4, members of the Cutchogue Fire Department took part in two community parades.

Before firefighters joined the Southold Town Fourth of July Parade, which was sponsored by the Southold American Legion, the day started with the yearly New Suffolk Civic Association parade. During both events, members of the fire department helped the Southold Town Police Department manage traffic.

The department also praised everyone who contributed to the success of the festivities and commended Ladies Auxiliary member Jeanette Cooper for serving as the Southold parade's grand marshal.
