On June 26, members of the Fire Emergency Service (FES) Squad of the Bay Shore Fire Department finished their monthly training, which focused on vehicle rescue operations.

Senior squad members conducted a practical extrication exercise using HURST E-Series hydraulic rescue tools after reviewing rescue situations that firefighters might encounter in Bay Shore and the Village of Brightwaters. Firefighters reinforced procedures used in complex car rescues by practicing tunneling under a four-door automobile involved in a simulated collision with a commercial trailer.

Regular training, according to department officials, helps guarantee that workers are ready for actual emergency reactions.
