MILLBROOK, NY — The Millbrook Fire Department handled three emergency calls in just over two hours on August 6, including two EMS calls followed by a working dumpster fire.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., the Millbrook Fire Department Rescue Squad was dispatched to an EMS call. While units were responding, a second EMS call was received, requiring the department's second ambulance to respond to that emergency.

Both Millbrook ambulances were subsequently committed to EMS calls and transporting patients when a third call was dispatched in the district for a working dumpster fire. With both ambulances unavailable, Millbrook requested assistance from Amenia Ambulance for the fire scene. Firefighters worked to contain and extinguish the fire. The dumpster fire repeatedly reignited before crews were able to fully extinguish it.

After completing an EMS transport to the hospital, one Millbrook ambulance returned directly to the fire scene and relieved Amenia Ambulance. Millbrook Fire Department thanked the Amenia crew for providing assistance while both Millbrook ambulances were committed.

The fire was declared out at 9:53 p.m. Millbrook apparatus then refilled their water tanks before the department returned to service at approximately 10:45 p.m.

The evening resulted in three emergency calls in a little over two hours, requiring Millbrook firefighters, EMS personnel, and mutual-aid resources to manage multiple incidents at the same time.
