Jay, ME — July 14 — To enhance driver-operator abilities and fireground water supply operations, Jay Fire & Rescue held a pump operations course. The training was led by Chief TD Hardy and Firefighter and Fire Instructor Alan Stewart, who gave new firefighters practical training on pump operation, water movement, and apparatus capabilities.

In addition to reviewing how the department's 3,000-gallon engines 1 and 3 operate, participants reinforced the fundamentals required to provide a dependable water supply in an emergency. Frequent pump training ensures an efficient water supply for structural and rural fire situations throughout the department's response area, helps firefighters retain competence, and enhances apparatus operations.
