Mechanic Falls, ME — June 21 — As part of a series showcasing the department's emergency response equipment, Mechanic Falls Fire/Rescue unveiled UTV 1, a 2021 Polaris Ranger XP 1000. Firefighters were able to access fields, woodland paths, and other locations that were inaccessible to larger equipment thanks to the specialist off-road vehicle's FireLite Transport skid unit.

85 gallons of water, five gallons of foam, 100 feet of ¾-inch booster hose, and a Stokes basket mount specifically designed for patient transport during rescue operations were all carried by the unit. The agency, which is headquartered at 106 Lewiston St., kept growing its capacity to respond to remote-area emergencies, brush fires, and wildland occurrences across the neighborhood.
