Through the Partners in Training (PIT) Crew program of the National Volunteer Fire Council, the Secaucus Fire Department conducted a hazardous materials training program on June 17.
Firefighters and hazardous materials responders attended the Teaching Cargo Tank Awareness training to learn about emergency response protocols, transportation dangers, and cargo tank laws. Before returning to the training, a number of Secaucus firemen went to a nearby box truck fire involving hazardous materials issues.
The department expressed gratitude to Lt. Donald Cieciuch, NVFC Training Coordinator Amanda Tegtmeyer, and instructor Corey McCartney for their assistance in bringing the nationally acclaimed training program to Secaucus.
