This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

At approximately 0046 hours on August 31, 2026, the Gloucester County Fire Alarm Room dispatched the Deptford Fire Department and automatic aid companies to 129 Hemlock Ct, Deptford, NJ in the Narraticon Apartments complex for the report of a fire from a balcony and the report of people trapped. First arriving fire units reported heavy fire showing from Division C and it was spreading quickly. The working fire box was immediately transmitted and the second alarm at 0053 hours. The Deptford FD and other companies went to work trying to stop the fire from spreading through the entire apartment building. Early collapse of balconies and the roof of a few apartments along with less than optimum conditions to place apparatus in the rear of the building, created challenges for the firefighters. The third alarm was transmitted at 0059 hours. There were no serious injuries reported. Extensive overhaul was required before placing the fire under control in about two hours.
