On June 17, 25 years after the Father's Day Fire in Queens, the New York City Fire Department paid tribute to Firefighters John J. Downing, Brian D. Fahey, and Harry S. Ford.

On June 17, 2001, an explosion occurred as the three firefighters were fighting a fire at a hardware store on Astoria Boulevard, resulting in their deaths while performing their duties. One of the department's biggest line-of-duty tragedies, the incident happened on Father's Day.

The FDNY honors the enduring legacy they left within the fire department while continuing to recognize their sacrifice and dedication.
