Johnson City, N.Y. — July 4 — The Johnson City Fire Department encouraged citizens to incorporate safety into their holiday celebrations while joining communities across the country in commemorating Independence Day. Because barbecues, fireworks, and outdoor parties frequently result in an increase in emergency calls during the holiday, fire officials advised the public to exercise caution.
Parades, neighborhood gatherings, and fireworks displays were urged to be enjoyed responsibly by families. Firefighters, EMS workers, police enforcement officers, and other first responders stayed on duty, prepared to respond when required, while many celebrated with friends and family. Both community pride and the ongoing dedication of emergency services workers were highlighted during the celebration.
