Just after 8:30 on the evening of July 9th, the Garfield FD was alerted to a possible structure fire in the area of Sherman/Frederick. Chief Alan Tani arrived on scene and confirmed the working fire at 161 Sherman. First arriving FD units made quick work of the fire, containing it to the area of origin on the ground floor with minor extension. Members also made the rescue of a large dog which was successfully resuscitated by a combined effort from GPD, GFD, and HUMC BLS. Mutual aid from Saddle Brook and Wallington assisted.
