Pawlet, VT. — June 16 — To improve fireground operations, Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department firefighters held a practical water supply training session. In addition to rehearsing hose deployment, pump operations, and coordinated water flow, crews went over how to deliver water to the first-arriving pumper. The drill strengthened the abilities required for fighting fires in rural areas, where a steady supply of water is essential and hydrants are frequently absent.

In order to increase effectiveness during emergency reactions, members also examined communication and equipment placement.
