Killington Firefighters Conducted Winter Water Supply Drill

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Killington, VT. — June 16 — Killington Fire & Rescue Services firefighters used the department's rural hitch device to mimic a winter water delivery scenario. While a tanker provided water from a safer roadside site, Engine 3 ran at a simulated structure fire on a steep hillside. Additionally, crews used the department's four-wheel-drive mini pumper to show that they could access areas that were inaccessible to larger equipment due to winter conditions, narrow roads, and steep grades.

The drill reaffirmed coordinated operations, rural firefighting strategies, and alternate water supply methods. Realistic venues for the practical exercise were provided by local property owners in support of the training.
