Demolition Property Provides Valuable Training Opportunity

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

PATTON, PA — June 14 — Members of Patton Fire Company No. 1 recently conducted training inside a structure planned for demolition, allowing firemen the opportunity to drill in an unfamiliar area similar to situations they may encounter during emergency responses.

The hands-on training allowed participants to apply fireground abilities in a realistic scenario while working through building layouts they had not previously encountered. Opportunities like this, according to department officials, improve readiness and reinforce operational abilities in a safe setting.

Patton Fire Company also praised the property owners for allowing firemen to use the facility for training before it was dismantled.
