Wildwood Crest, N.J. — June 2 — In remembrance of Police Officer Eugene Miglio III, who lost his life while performing his duties on June 2, 1995, the Wildwood Crest Volunteer Fire Department joined the Wildwood Crest Police Department and Wildwood Crest EMS on June 2. Residents, family members, police officers, firefighters, and emergency medical workers assembled at the gravestone and memorial tree honoring Miglio.

The yearly event honored his efforts and carried on the custom of honoring a public safety community member in the borough. While performing his responsibilities, Officer Miglio engaged in a struggle with a belligerent subject and sustained fatal injuries. The memorial continued to play a significant role in Wildwood Crest's yearly celebration.
