High-Flow Drill Prepares Bethel Park Crews for Defensive Firefighting

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Members of the Bethel Park Volunteer Fire Company practiced high-volume water operations for large-scale fire incidents on June 29.

According to officials, firefighters trained flowing enormous amounts of water in order to be ready for residential and commercial fires where defensive firefighting techniques are needed or direct access to the building is restricted. The practical exercise strengthened master stream deployment and water supply procedures, assisting crews in staying prepared for challenging fireground situations. Following the training, members were treated to ice cream and Italian ice by Rita's as a gesture of appreciation after a warm evening of drills.
