This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Down Range Ops conducted a Lithium-Ion Thermal Runaway training session on June 14th for members of the Ambridge Firefighters and many mutual assistance departments.

According to officials, the course, which was taught by a Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire Chief of Operations and an FDNY lieutenant, covered emergency response techniques, fire behavior, and the risks connected with lithium-ion batteries. To help firefighters better grasp the dangers of battery fires, the training featured both classroom education and a live demonstration. Along with firefighter training, instructors advised the public to avoid charging or storing electric bikes and scooters in bedrooms or close to exits, and to use batteries and chargers that are allowed by the manufacturer.

Department leaders thanked Ryerson for hosting the event and Cochran Hose Company - Sewickley Fire Department for supporting the regional training initiative.
