CHICOPEE, Mass. — June 11 — After 29 years of service to the City of Chicopee, Fire Chief Daniel Stamborski was acknowledged by the Chicopee Fire Department upon his retirement. He joined the department in 1997 as a second-generation firefighter, and after being appointed in 2019, he worked as a fireman, EMT, dispatcher, lieutenant, captain, and fire chief.

Throughout his tenure, he encouraged fundraising activities for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, supported firefighter health and safety, assisted in the implementation of the city's lockbox program, and modernized emergency response vehicles. His leadership, according to department officials, improved public safety and emergency operations while having a long-lasting effect on the agency and the community he served.
