Fall River, MA - Fall River Firefighters recruits returned to the training ground for a live burn day, continuing to build essential skills for the job.
During the session, recruits practiced VEIS, a tactic used when a person may be inside a room threatened by fire. Firefighters entered through a window using ground ladders, quickly isolated the room by closing the door, and conducted a focused search.
VEIS is a demanding operation that requires speed, coordination, and precision. When performed correctly, it can improve survivability and give trapped occupants their best chance of rescue.
