Engine 1 and Ladder 1 Train on Drafting Techniques

At Field Pond in Harold Parker State Forest on June 18, members of the Andover Fire Rescue held a water supply training exercise with an emphasis on drafting operations in places without fire hydrants.
Engine 1 and Ladder 1 rehearsed drafting water from the pond into the engine's pump, a method used to create and sustain a dependable water supply during fires in rural or isolated areas, according to officials. The practical development of abilities that are essential in situations where hydrants are not available.
Engine 1 demonstrated the apparatus's capacity to deliver huge quantities of water during significant firefighting operations during the exercise by effectively passing almost 1,000 gallons of water per minute through its master stream, also referred to as a deck gun.
