Mays Landing, NJ - Members of Laureldale Fire Rescue took part in an Atlantic County Tanker Task Force training exercise held in Mullica Township, focusing on rural water supply operations.

Crews trained in tanker shuttle procedures using portable ponds to establish a continuous water source in areas without hydrants. Water was transported from fill sites and dumped into portable basins, where it was then drafted by engines to support firefighting operations.

Officials noted that tanker operations are critical on rural fire scenes, where maintaining a steady water supply is essential for effective suppression efforts and firefighter safety.

During the drill, Tanker 18-39 experienced a mechanical issue and was taken out of service for the remainder of the exercise. Personnel adapted operations and continued training, highlighting the importance of preparing for unexpected challenges that can occur during real emergencies.
