TOPSHAM, VT. — June 10th — In an evening search and SCBA training exercise, members of the Tri-Village Fire Department participated in conditions that are frequently faced during interior fireground operations. Firefighters had to locate and search places while operating from the air during the simulation, which took place in an unfamiliar facility. Weather circumstances added additional element of difficulty, giving a realistic training environment for participating crews.

While going through the structure, firefighters exercised air control, cooperation, communication, and search strategies. These kinds of training exercises help departments be prepared for emergencies and strengthen the abilities required to carry out interior operations in a safe and efficient manner when responding to service requests.
