In order to improve rural firefighting capabilities, the East Killingly Fire Department's weekly exercise night on June 3rd focused on pumping and drafting operations.

According to officials, the training focused on creating dependable water sources in places without fire hydrants. Firefighters practiced drafting water from ponds, lakes, and other accessible sources that are frequently used during emergency situations while also reviewing the locations of water sources.

Department heads pointed out that rural fire safety depends on continuing to be proficient in drafting and pumping operations. By ensuring that workers can promptly acquire and carry water to the fireground, the practical training enhances response efficacy during emergencies.
